First on our agenda was the Santa Monica pier. On our way up there were stopped at Ikea and Robbin's Bros. We wanted to look for a new kitchen table and had to get our wedding rings cleaned. No such luck on the table, but our rings look as good as the day we got them! Keira was pretty much "done" with what Mommy and Daddy wanted to do. Next stop, the pier. We ate at Bubba Gump's for dinner and got on some of the rides they have there. Keira's latest obsession is anything under the sea. Especially fish. So you can imagine her excitement when she got to eat shrimp! And to my surprise, she loved it. She also loved the Ferris wheel but it was hard for her to appreciate the view of the sandy beach and perfect sunset as she could hardly see over the walls of the gondola. She sat very still and just moved her eyes. It was quite cute. As a result of the non-eventful ride on the Ferris wheel, Keira asked to ride on the very age appropriate, but not so sturdy airplane ride. We agreed that she could go by herself and be the pilot. And after this episode, Brian and I both made mental notes to NOT send her to pilot's school. After that, we removed our shoes and took a walk on the beach. There were still a lot of people playing in the water and on the shore. Then, we decided it was time to head home.

The very next day we went to San Diego to check out the new children's museum. We parked our car at the Oceanside train station and took the Coaster to downtown SD. It was a very comfortable ride. We enjoyed nice views of the beach and watched all the people passing by. The Coaster dropped us off and we headed straight for the museum. It was a couple of blocks away, and no one will be shocked to hear that Keira ran the whole way there. We stopped for a quick lunch at a little deli and headed on our way again. As we approached the front doors of the museum, we noticed a sign saying "Closed on Wednesdays". Ugh! Is what I was thinking, but poor Brian. This was his big plan and was really looking forward to it. So we sat down and thought up a new plan. Nothing was going to stand in the way of our day! So, we just hoofed it to Horton Plaza to do a little window shopping and get some yummy Ben n' Jerry's chocolate ice cream. Totally worth it! After stopping at a book store we decided we would head back to the station to start our trip back home. On the way, we cruised by Embarcadero to look at the ships. The smell was too much for us and we left. As we boarded the Coaster to go home, Brian and I were convinced Keira would fall asleep since her pace had slowed down (a little bit). Little did we know she had some saved up energy that we didn't see coming! It was nice taking a train rather than sitting in traffic in our car. Although, I think Keira would have fallen asleep in a heartbeat if we were in our car! On our way home we stopped at Brian's parents' house for dinner and relaxation.

On Thursday we just stayed home. We needed to put our feet up...and do some laundry! On Friday night Brian and I had a date night. Just the two of us and to say that it was amazing would not be doing it justice. We dropped Keira off at Jan and Phil's so that she could go out to dinner and have a sleepover. Then we headed for the mall to do some shopping. I won't go into all of the details of what was purchased, but let's just say I love my husband and I love the store New York & Co.! After that, we ate dinner at Lucille's BBQ. It is so amazing to have one night to help us realize why we are married and get us back to the reasons of why we have stayed together. Not for the kid or house, but because of US. I loved it and we HAVE to do it more often.
Saturday brought the Fantasy Football Draft...blah, blah, blah.
Sunday we stayed home and had Phil's birthday dinner at the Lazy Dog Cafe. Keira calls it the "Clues" like on Blue's Clues.
Monday I had to return to work. Brian was still off so he, his brother Stephen, and his Grandpa built a planter for our front yard. They did a wonderful job even though I saw the expressions of defeat and exhaustion sometimes. Thank you guys!
